MAKING NEET EXAM COMPULSORY- RIGHT OR WRONG?

MAKING NEET EXAM COMPULSORY- RIGHT OR WRONG?

It needs a serious analysis of the ground realities! Hence this review!

How careless our politicians are in understanding the genuine difficultiees of the students! No country can torture its children like this!

The CBSE board is conducting NEET exam for medical admissions across the country.

Single exam for all the states. That too, in the CBSE syllabus.  The central government has announced that there will be common entrance exam for Engineering also from the next academic year (2017-18).

But, every state has its own syllabus. Therefore, MAJORITY OF THE STUDENTS in every state have studied in their own state syllabus. Only a small part of students study in the CBSE syllabus in every state.

In Tamil nadu and some states, there are vast differences between the state syllabus and CBSE syllabus. And, in Tamilnadu, 11th std (+1) syllabus is not considered for admissions so far.

The Central govt has made it compulsory for all states to admit the students in MBBS through NEET entrance exam.

Are the ministers aware of the different syllabus in states? How can the students who studied in different syllabus compete with the students of CBSE syllabus equally? How can there be equal competition? Isn't it against the constitution that guarantees equal opportunities for all?

If the government is serious about conducting a single exam for medical admissions, it should have first made a single syllabus across India in all the states. After 3-4 years of making the syllabus same in all the states, the central government should introduce the common entrance exam for all the states.

Why the government rushes with the common exam before introducing the common syllabus? Isn't the common syllabus is the prior requirement for a common exam? Are the ministers not aware of it? Is the Supreme Court not aware of it?

And, the education is in the common agenda of both ccentre and states. Then, why do the central govt and the court impose a common exam in different syllabus on the states even before the states change the syllabus to the standard of CBSE?

The government should allow a few years for the states to modify the syllabus according to the standard of NEET.

In Madurai in Tamilnadu, a student has committed suicide because he was upset with the NEET exam from a syllabus he never heard of. All he knows is the state syllabus alone.

Please governments, think wisely. Do not play with the life of students. Your intention may be right. But, in a country like India that has different cultures, backgrounds, etc, rushing with a common exam in CBSE syllabus is nothing but playing with the life of the students.  The state syllabus students and regional language medium students do not have even text books to prepare for NEET in theirn regional language.

Please postpone NEET in the states till they change the syllabus. Give them ateast three years to familiarise with the new syllabus. Or, first implement a single syllabus accross India. After that conduct the single exam.

This alone can be a justified solution. Please keep the poor rural students in mind who have not even heard what is CBSE, what is NEET, what is IIT JEE, etc.

Next year, the central government is planning a common exam for Engineering admissions also! Do not implement it till you make the syllabus common across India.

Latest Update (05.09.17):  In Tamilndau, a girl Anitha from Ariyalur, who scored 1176 / 1200 in the Plus Two Board and was eligible for medical seat, failed in NEET that was conducted in spite of the assurances of the ministers of Tamilnadu Govt.  Hence she lost her medical seat and hence committed suicide three days back.  This is the effect of uncertainty created by the politicians and stubborn stand of the central govt in pushing the NEET in all states though they were not ready so far.
